Dentist or Prosthodontist for dentures?

Prosthodontists specialize in hard to treat cases. If you feel that your case will be difficult, then see one of them. Otherwise, a general dentist can do just fine. We make dentures and partials in our office all the time and never have a problem. On the rare occasion that we do encounter a difficult case, we refer the patient out to a prosthodontist. As far as the cost goes, it depends on the case. Each case is different, so it is hard to say exactly how much more it will be. But I would say that you should plan on spending upwards of $2,000.00 or more at a prosthodontist and about $1,500.00 at a general dentist. this is the cost per denture, not the total.
